In the September Pipeline we discussed the environmental and fire hazards of adding alkaline batteries to the Recycling bin. For now, one alternative to placing the batteries in a clear zip-top bag into your recycling bin is to drop off the batteries at the Kiefer landfill. To make things easier for the community, the Kiwanis notified the District they have formed a project whereby spent alkaline batteries can be bagged and dropped off at the local Ace Hardware who will collect them. The Kiwanis will then deliver the collected batteries to the landfill. Thank you Kiwanis and Ace Hardware for helping our residents find a more convenient way to safely dispose of their alkaline batteries!
